Job Overview:
The Dispatch Representative plays a crucial role in the Transportation Department by assisting with the dispatch of drivers, managing reporting duties, and supporting day-to-day operations. This position requires effective communication with drivers to ensure timely deliveries and adherence to schedules. Additionally, the Dispatch Representative is responsible for organizing and processing driver paperwork, ensuring accurate payment, and maintaining service quality through active monitoring and coordination.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of AS-400 and intermediate computer skills are preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines with minimal direction.
- Strong ability to maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively communicating with a diverse range of individuals.
- Familiarity with operating rules and company policies, ensuring compliance and operational integrity.
- Dependable and able to thrive in a fast-paced working environment.
- Experience with truckload deliveries is preferred, highlighting a background in transportation or logistics.
Physical Demands:
- Extended Sitting: Primarily desk-based with prolonged computer use.
- Light Lifting: Occasional handling of objects up to 20 pounds.
- Computer Use: Frequent operation of computers and office equipment, requiring manual dexterity.
- Eye Strain and Repetitive Motion: Risk from continuous screen use and repetitive tasks like typing.
