Job Overview:

The Carrier Representative is responsible for ensuring assigned freight is executed, building lasting carrier relationships, and overseeing daily shipment activities while ensuring a high level of customer service to continuously exceed our customers’ expectations. The Carrier Representative reports to the Operations Manager.

Job Description

  • Identify carriers for available freight and negotiate competitive rates.
  • Build and maintain strong carrier relationships.
  • Answer inbound and make outbound calls to ensure outstanding customer service.
  • Drive operational excellence to both customer and carriers.
  • Manage daily load activities, resolving issues to ensure on time pick-up and delivery
  • Proactively resolve problems that may arise while a load is in transit.
  • Creative thinker who enjoys a competitive, team-based atmosphere.
  • Grow business with current carriers in alignment with account growth strategy plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree preferred.
  • Previous sales experience preferred.
  • Truck brokerage knowledge preferred.
  • Strong work ethic with a sense of urgency; able to work in a fast-paced work environment with quickly changing priorities.
  • Works proactively and independently, with the ability to take initiative.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with good negotiation tactics.
  • Willingness to learn new information and apply knowledge to job responsibilities.

Physical Demands:

  • Extended Sitting: Primarily desk-based with prolonged computer use.
  • Light Lifting: Occasional handling of objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Computer Use: Frequent operation of computers and office equipment, requiring manual dexterity.
  • Eye Strain and Repetitive Motion: Risk from continuous screen use and repetitive tasks like typing.
  • Office Navigation: Light walking and standing for meetings and tasks within the office.
